Everything You Need To See
A traditional Japanese floor rolling bed, the shikifuton, is made with 3 layers of cotton battings, a supportive foam layer, and a polyester fiber batting layer. The mat is designed to flatten slightly, providing firmness and cushion for a comfortable night’s sleep, especially for those with back pain. This Japanese mattress is used for sleeping on the floor at night and can be rolled up during the day to free up space.
When it comes to a futon, the Japanese style futon is the most popular choice. You can use a tatami mat with the futon to adjust moisture levels. Simply place the futon bedding on the floor or a bedframe for sleeping, or store it in the closet for other occasions.
This futon mattress is compressed and delivered in a vacuum bag. After opening the bag, the mattress will naturally regain its shape. Packaging may cause wrinkles or corrugation, but this is not a defect. Allow it to air for a few hours to settle.
To keep your futon lasting longer, cover it with a large mattress cover sheet or comforter when in use. This will help maintain its freshness and appearance according to your preferences. Wash the protector cover sheet periodically and place the mattress outside under the sun for drying and airing. If storing for a while, dry the mattress first and ensure it is stored in a dry place with covers removed. Regular drying is recommended even when not in use.
Should your futon become dirty, spot clean it and dry it well. This futon cannot be washed in a washing machine. Refer to a dry cleaner or a futon company for professional cleaning instructions.
